Trends with Friends

Pivot Forward 2015 has come and gone. The design team was excited to get some face time with our awesome clients. For those of you who weren’t able to attend and suffer from FoMO (fear of missing out, it’s a thing!) here are the trends we covered.
Similar to the trend of double exposure in photography, you can combine images and type in a unique way. Pretty sure this would make for an awesome headline treatment.
Photo compositing (combining two or more pictures together) allows for extraordinary image opportunities. With magical realism, you’re no longer limited to regular old stock photography. Need a tiny elephant ballerina dancing on a piece of toast? We could probably make that happen. Also, check out David’s post from last week for another great example.
Geometric patterns have been trending for a couple of years. They’re not just for backgrounds anymore. These simple shapes can become complex images. They can form people, places, and (our favorite) animals.
This trend forces you to rethink your point of view. It allows for distortion (in an elegant and artistic way) of height, width, depth, and position.
This isn’t a new trend, but it only continues to grow in popularity. We’re kind of obsessed. We’ll handletter on anything — headlines, illustrations, people’s faces, the bottom of your shoe — the possibilities are endless.
Also, if you’re super in love with any of the photos above, we’d be happy to send you a high resolution file so you can print it yourself! Frame it and keep it on your desk. Or give it to your mom (she’d love it).
